A: Thanks for reaching out J! This round's bullet does not have a steel core. Pretty much the only steel core bullet commonly available on the market is the 5.56x45 M855, which only has a partial steel core. If a bullet has a bimetal jacket, that means it has a lead core with a steel jacket that is coated in a very thin layer of copper. I'm not familiar with all ranges' ammo policies, but generally the ones that ban magnetic ammo will also ban bimetal jackets because the steel they contain poses a higher chance of ricocheting, sparking, and damaging range equipment.

A: This Tula ammo has a polymer coating to protect the steel. It will not come off onto the receiver or barrel.

A: This Tula 45 ACP ammo has a bimetal jacket, which is composed of copper and steel. The jacket is soft enough that it will not damage the rifling of your barrel. The case is made of steel, but this steel is mild, and, like the bimetal jacket, will not cause excessive wear in your pistol. You might find that this ammo does cause additional fouling in the chamber of your pistol because of how steel acts during firing - brass expands to seal against the walls of the chamber, while the steel does not do so as effectively - but this does not take much more time to clean than any other ammo type. A good chamber brush should be on hand no matter what kind of ammo you shoot.

A: Steel cases are not reloadable and thus have much less intrinsic value. Many shooting ranges resell the brass that is left on the ground or placed in brass buckets, and steel cases would have to be sorted out from this brass. Thus, they do not allow steel cased ammunition on their range.

A: Some pistols function better with brass ammunition than with steel or aluminum cased ammunition. Generally, the fewest problems will be had with brass ammunition - but there are many firearms that will cycle steel and aluminum cased ammo without any problems. The only way to find out if your pistol is reliable with any particular ammunition is to shoot it in your weapon.
