Before you click “Add To Cart,” please make sure you’re not actually shopping for AR-15 ammo. This 5.45x39 ammo is only going to work in the Russian AK-74!
The AK-47 is old news, comrades. Now the AK-74 – that’s a rifle! All yours needs is a case of 5.45x39 ammo by Red Army Standard and you’ll be range-ready.
Don’t let its brand name lead you astray. This is new production ammo, not Soviet era surplus, so it’s equipped with the non-corrosive primers that prevent rusting. In true Russian fashion this ammo has steel cases. They’re non-reloadable, but they still run through a semi-auto efficiently thanks to their friction-reducing polymer coatings.
This 5.45x39 ammo is equipped with the standard 60 grain full metal jacket projectile. It slams into a target at close range with over 1,000 ft lbs of energy, although it won’t mushroom outward inside of soft tissue to register accentuated damage. Red Army Standard ammo has bimetal jackets. They won’t harm a rifle barrel, but the steel they contain will indeed draw a magnet.
