Every AR-15 owner should keep a healthy stockpile of 5.56x45 M855 ammunition on hand. It’s great for target practice, and it’s not remotely unsuitable for personal defense, either!
This 5.56x45 ammo is made by Winchester. It wasn’t manufactured for the U.S. Armed Forces, although it is fundamentally the same as the ammo produced for the government by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (which Winchester manages on Uncle Sam’s behalf).
This is M855 ammo. Its 62 grain bullets look just like conventional full metal jacket projectiles on the outside, but their green tips (which are painted, not polymer) show that they have something special just beneath their copper shells. The M855 bullet does contain lead in its core; its frontal section, however, is made of steel. That makes the M855 bullet hard enough to reliably pass through a variety of barriers, including sheet metal, hundreds of yards downrange. Just take care that this ammo will attract a magnet. That’s important, as many commercial establishments prohibit bullets which contain steel because they can more easily damage range equipment, among other reasons.
Brand new brass cases. Noncorrosive Boxer primers. Convenient 20-round boxes. It’s all yours – just let us know where you need it!
