You’ve got an AK or SKS rifle. You’ve got a pile of targets, and maybe you also know where you can find a few varmints and predators. You’re just missing one crucial element: the 7.62x39 ammunition. Well, you can scratch that off your list, because we’ve got Russian-made MAXXTech Essential Steel ammo in stock and we’re standing by to ship a case to your castle!
This cartridge’s bullet is something special. As a 122 grain hollow point, it’s designed to burst apart into jagged fragments once it meets resistance from a soft medium (i.e. the substance small game animals are made of). The HP essentially turns itself into shrapnel following impact! You’re not wasting HP bullets if you only fire them for target practice, of course, but be careful – these bullets have bi-metal jackets which are mostly made out of steel. Some ranges prohibit “magnetic” ammo.
Steel cases aren’t reloadable, but they make up for that shortcoming with their low price tag. The relative rigidity of steel also means this ammo is poised to leave more fouling behind inside your rifle, but that’s nothing a little extra cleaning can’t fix. You will not have to clean your rifle in any special fashion, because this ammo is loaded with noncorrosive Berdan primers!
