British actor Alan Bates once said “You've got to have steel in you somewhere.” Was he talking about a man’s character? Or was he talking about affordable ammunition? Probably the latter -- British actors are well known for frequently commenting on ammunition.
This 9mm cartridge passes Bates’ test because its shell casing is made of steel rather than costlier brass. It still performs marvelously in a semi-automatic thanks to Wolf’s proprietary acrylic-polymer coating, a material that manages to facilitate both feeding and ejection but without leaving an ugly amount of residue in its wake. This round’s Berdan primer serves as an additional reason why you won’t be reloading this ammo, but if you didn’t intend to reload anyway that’s hardly a glowing downside.
This cartridge features a 115 grain projectile. People often favor that lightweight bullet for personal protection, so this round will give you realistic feedback on how your self-defense load will behave. The FMJ bullet is far more cost-effective for training than any JHP could be as well.

Our team has fired roughly 5000 rounds apiece and I am not aware of a single failure that could be blamed on faulty ammo.. Besides, the emptys can be picked up with a magnet, no more crawling. (Posted on 9/27/2022)

I'm not sure if i got a bad batch or what. I had ordered some wolf ammo that shot fine earlier through a springfield 1911 which encouraged me to make another order thinking i had found good cheap range ammo. The next order i got was horrible. every box had loads that felt weak and several that failed to exit the barrel. it got to the point that i carried a rod i would stick down the barrel after a weak shot to make sure the bullet wasn't still in the barrel. after this, i will not be buying any more russian ammo now or EVER! These rounds are slightly off. Only Ammo that jams M&P which fires everything. Nearly every shot fired jammed up. The casing is off just a hair, it’s enough to jam up almost every time. (Posted on 6/16/2021)

This is really great ammo for practice, especially close-range drills. Not the best at long range, though. I keep my weapons clean, so I don't get hangups very often, but when I do, it's usually my Wolf ammo. One day I shot about 400 rounds of Wolf from my Ruger P89 and my Canik. I had 2 stove-pipes and 3 failure to eject. Not too shabby for such a great price. (Posted on 8/2/2020)

When I ordered this ammo, I was not aware I would not be able to use these at my local indoor shooting club where I am a member. I was told these are considered a fire hazard to an indoor range. I’m sure they will perform just fine outdoors this summer, but I cannot testify to that yet. The price was great, shipping was extremely fast, and Bulk Ammo was great.

I have shoot 2000 rounds thru my gun of this ammo with no issues at all. I do clean my guns religiously so I am sure that is helping, but no misfires or poor aim as a result of this cheaper ammo. (Posted on 2/9/2020)

I have used wolf for range time lately due to the price. I have only had one issue where a round jammed in the pipe but think it might have been gun related. Ok, so it's not brass. It feeds, fires and ejects. It is a bit sooty and the powder residue builds up some so you may need to wipe it off after a couple hundred rounds. For high volume range time, it's hard to beat. I've used the Winchester steel and it is rough, does not reliably feed sometimes and leaves tiny bits of steel residue in the chamber and magazine area. Accuracy is on par with most. You want perfection, pay 25+ cents/ round. Got a class or serious range day coming up? Pay about 13 cents/ round and have a good time. (Posted on 11/12/2019)
