The 243 Win is one of the all-time great deer hunting cartridges. It only makes sense that Federal Premium would load it with the ELD-X – one of the all-time great deer hunting bullets, by Hornady of Nebraska. Whether you’re hunting up close or from afar, this round will plant your quarry’s nose in the ground!

The ELD-X is a true match accurate hunting bullet. Its AMP jacket is nigh flawless in its concentricity. Its boat tail and secant ogive geometry both capably minimize drag. Its Heat Shield is unlike other polymer tips, as it is entirely immune to aerodynamic heating – no deformation or warping that could have robbed the ELD-X of its perfect meplat. Federal places the 90 grain ELD-X’s G1 BC at 0.409, which means it defeats frontal air resistance handily enough to slide through a 100-yard zero and only fall -2.6” once it has flown another 100 yards downrange.

The ELD-X still conserves over 1,000 ft lbs of kinetic energy at 400 yards. At that range its InterLock ring reliably secures no less than 85% weight retention, and its Heat Shield presses inward to force lethal terminal expansion. But even if you catch your quarry at close range, you can count on the ELD-X to dominate it completely.

Federal’s highest-quality primers and propellant are worthy of backing so fearsome a bullet. This ammo’s nickel-plated brass cases are a great advantage if you hunt in damp places, as they safeguard the brass underneath from corrosion. Nickel also minimizes metal-on-metal friction, so you can trust your rifle to feed and eject exactly as it’s meant to.
