Details
Serious 30-06 Springfield marksmen should try out this ammo. It’s loaded by Black Hills of South Dakota, which supplies match-grade 5.56x45 to the U.S. Armed Forces. It’s also loaded with the ELD Match, which is Hornady’s highest-quality match-grade projectile. It’s … like … ammo that’s really, really good at hitting its target!
It’s amazing how many features Hornady can fit into 168 grains of lead, copper and polymer. The ELD Match is shaped for accuracy. Its sleek profile terminates in a Heat Shield polymer tip, which is designed to resist deformation under intense aerodynamic friction. The ELD Match’s tip does not initiate terminal expansion; all it does is help the bullet pierce through the air, like a jousting rod.
The ELD Match’s swaged lead core provides consistent uniformity, as does its highly concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process (AMP) jacket. This is a boat tail projectile as well – one more element responsible for the ELD Match’s low drag. We don’t have this loaded cartridge’s ballistic data, but Hornady puts the .30 cal 168gr ELD Match bullet alone at 0.523 G1, 0.263 G7.

Q: Hello!!! Say, I wanted to check and see if the 30-06 168gr BTHP Match ELD ammo you make/sell is compatible/safe to shoot in an M1 GARAND. My TEAM and I are gonna be shooting CMP competitions this spring, and since I know you produce the best ammo I wanted to check. I wanted to sure that load is safe to shoot, and the pressures will not damage the Op Rod.
Any assistance, would be greatly Apreciated.
Ty,

A: Thanks for reaching out Darren! Hey, I just want you to be sure that we don't actually produce ammo. We're a humble retailer, but we're honored to offer Black Hills' best for sale. I regret that I cannot recommend 30-06 for an M1 Garand unless its manufacturer specifically states that it's safe for the M1 Garand. This ammo could *potentially* be safe for an M1, but I just can't take any risks with our customers' operating rods. (Black Hills might tell you this ammo is OK for an M1 if you reached out to them directly.) It's not match grade, but this here 30-06 is specifically rated for M1: https://www.bulkammo.com/bulk-30-06-springfield-ammo-3006150grfmjpp348prvim1nocan-200
