Match grade ammunition is in Black Hills’ blood. You can find their MK262 in any U.S. military sniper’s 5.56 rifle (don’t look without asking the sniper for permission first). But Black Hills doesn’t just load modern military rounds to match specifications. They respect the “O.G.” too. This is 30-06 Springfield for snipers!
This round’s 168 grain projectile is a hollow point boat tail. It’s not a hunting bullet. It will frag out after impact, even at relatively low velocities, and it isn’t designed to expand. In short, it could kill a deer, but it’s not ideal for the task.
Where the HPBT excels is accuracy. Its form-fitted lead core and highly concentric jacket keep it rotationally balanced. Its narrow tip and tapered base stir up very little drag, thus keeping more of the bullet’s momentum intact as it soars toward its intended destination.
This ammo is made in the rugged state of South Dakota using all-premium components. Don’t retire those cases until you’ve reloaded them a few times!
