Details
The 300 AAC Blackout cartridge was designed to deliver more punch than the 5.56x45 – without requiring the use of a different magazine. It wasn’t designed for deer and hog hunting, but here’s the beautiful thing: deer and hogs don’t know that.
Silver State Armory did design this particular 300 BLK ammo for hunting. That’s why it’s loaded with Ballistic Tip projectiles by Nosler (an Oregon company which, uncoincidentally, also owns Silver State Armory).
The Ballistic Tip boils down to three components. Its polymer tip streamlines its nose profile, and is fitted inside a nose cavity where it will trigger expansion. Its lead core is alloyed, dense and durable. Its jacket is tough to promote even higher weight retention, tapered to control expansion, and thick at the base to spur on wider expansion.
This is subsonic ammunition thanks to its heavy 220 grain bullet weight. That makes it a natural pick if you’re using a suppressor, as its subsonic muzzle velocity will give your suppressor less noise to suppress!
