Details
The 300 AAC Blackout is what would happen if the 5.56x45 and the 7.62x39 got married and had a baby. That’s one pointy baby. And if you’d like to enjoy some real affordable accuracy over at the old rifle range, then you’ll want to get a load of these babies by Winchester!
This isn’t a subsonic round. At 125 grains the bullet is light enough to deliver a muzzle velocity of 2,185 fps out of an AR, and it achieves a G1 BC of 0.272 because it is an open tip. Now, make no mistake: The open tip is not built for terminal expansion, and offers fundamentally identical terminal ballistics to an FMJ. The open tip’s little nose cavity is there because Winchester made the bullet’s jacket first and inserted its core afterward. So uniformly distributed a core promotes exceptional rotational stability – a key ingredient to exceptional accuracy.
Every component of a USA round is fresh out of Winchester’s factory. If you notice that these rounds’ cases aren’t uniformly colored, that’s because you see where they were annealed at the factory. Heat treatment makes brass more supple, which in turn promotes cleaner performance and ongoing reloadability.
