Details
The 300 Winchester Magnum isn’t exactly the kind of cartridge you use for backyard plinking. It is a showstopper, with accuracy and stopping power suitable for finishing off any North American game. But no matter your quarry’s shape and size, Barnes VOR-TX Long Range ammunition is all you’ll need during the hunt ahead.
This cartridge is armed with its Utahan manufacturer’s Long-Range X boat tail. It is a copper bullet, precision machined from solid bar stock and accordingly perfectly balanced for accurate flight. A copper bullet’s advantages aren’t limited to its nontoxicity. Here is a bullet which cannot slather lead residue against your bore or deposit fragments of lead inside your game’s meat. Copper is also extremely ductile, and exhibits accordingly fine weight retention to assure deep penetration across a broad range of impact velocities.
The LTX BT’s polymer tip, grooved shank and boat tail all help it conserve momentum and energy. If you adhere to the philosophy that at least 1,500 ft lbs of impact energy is required for elk, then you’ll still be able to dump so much force into such a great quarry at approximately 592 yards (0.499 G1 BC). And once the LRX BT’s tip plunges into its underlying nose cavity, the bullet doubles its diameter by unfurling four long, sharp cutting petals. Quite effective!
Barnes’ expertise on copper bullets is unrivaled, and they certainly know the secrets to loading fine ammunition as well: premium brass cases, dependable Boxer primers, and clean-burning propellant to complement a clean-shooting bullet.
