A 300 Win Mag cartridge with a high-quality copper hunting bullet is a force to be reckoned with. Federal Premium may load this ammo, but the Barnes Triple-Shock X is the true star of the show!
This round’s 165 grain bullet is 100% copper – no lead that will foul your barrel or give a game warden a reason to write you a ticket. The 0.398 G1 BC TSX is perfectly balanced, as it hasn’t got a jacket with an imperfection or a core with an air bubble inside it. It also enhances accuracy with its Accu-Groove which minimizes bearing surface and barrel fouling, precision heel radius which gives propellant gasses an even base to push up against, and sleek, narrow meplat.
That meplat is actually a hollow point, and it definitely serves a purpose. The TSX’s nose cavity is internally segmented, which causes the bullet to expand by unfurling four knife-like cutting petals. The effect is even deadlier thanks to the inherently deep-penetrating nature of a monolithic bullet.
Nickel makes a big appearance on this ammo’s cases. The shiny plating is more resistant to corrosion than pure brass, and it helps the round glide more easily into and out of a rifle’s chamber.
