The 38 Special’s career has spanned three consecutive centuries, and we’re sure it will still be around to protect people against whatever horrors await in the 22nd century. We’re glad we won’t be around to see it. We’re also glad to have Remington High Terminal Performance 38 Special ammunition in stock!
This is actually 38 Special +P. That means its propellant charge is more potent than a standard pressure round’s, and accordingly accelerates its bullet to a higher than average muzzle velocity of 995 fps. This round’s 110 grain bullet’s impact energy at 25 yards is approximately the same as a standard pressure round’s muzzle energy. When your only goal is to neutralize a threat to your safety, every foot-pound of energy counts. (This ammo is only safe for firearms that are rated for +P – consult your firearm’s manual or manufacturer if you’re unsure.)
This cartridge’s semi-jacketed hollow point projectile is designed to increase in diameter as it penetrates a soft medium. The partial jacket promotes wider expansion at lower velocities, which is of especial benefit to the 38 Special – a relatively weak handgun cartridge, even when it is overpressure. HTP ammo also features smooth-feeding, smooth-extracting and corrosion resistant nickel-plated brass cases. Good for lever guns, too!
