Federal didn’t take any liberties when they named this 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge a “Gold Medal” -- a gold medal is precisely what they designed it to win. To do so they equipped the round with their superlative brass casing, propellant that is specially formulated for unerring consistency, and a benchrest quality Boxer primer. For the bullet, they tagged Sierra to provide their preeminent target projectile -- the revered MatchKing.
This round’s 140 grain MatchKing wears a thin and astonishingly concentric jacket. You would require a microscope to detect any variation in the MatchKing’s jacket thickness, and even then you would still need very good eyes as well. The MatchKing’s core density, weight, and hollow point meplat are all standardized as thoroughly as its jacket, ensuring that each shot will deliver nothing but unwavering accuracy. Its boat tail has been angled to best complement the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber’s in-flight performance. This is by no means an expanding bullet -- it’s meant for competition, although a deadeye on a coyote hunt could certainly make great use of the MatchKing!
