Details
This 7.62x39mm cartridge is loaded with Hornady’s own MonoFlex SBR projectile. Before anyone asks, the MonoFlex SBR still functions correctly in firearms that aren’t short-barrel rrifles.
The lead-free (and therefore lightweight) 111 grain MonoFlex SBT performs well for hunting and defense because it is accurate, tough, and primed for terminal expansion. This is a ballistically efficient projectile, with Hornady’s tried and trusted secant ogive profile to keep it driving across a flat road to target town. The one-piece monolithic copper bullet consistently retains 95% of its weight as it plows through a soft medium. When fired into ballistic gel, the Monoflex penetrates 14” deep (as recorded with a 6.75” barrel). It also expands to a diameter of 0.73” as its polymer tip thrusts apart its wide and deep nose cavity.
Hornady BLACK 7.62x39 ammo works great in all kinds of guns: SBR, SKS, AK, bolt action, you name it. It’s brass cased, reloadable, and loaded with the attention to detail Hornady is famous for. Take it hunting where lead is banned, and anywhere else for that matter. Keep it ready in a magazine in case life attacks when you least expect it. Either way, the MonoFlex would serve you much better than the 7.62x39’s traditional FMJ!
