Details
It’s fair to assume that Red Army Standard 7.62x39 ammo comes from Russia. But in this case, it doesn’t. These all-purpose wallet-friendly range loads were manufactured in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, so they don’t violate the current regime’s ban on Russian imports!
This round is armed with a 122 grain full metal jacket bullet. As you may already have guessed, the FMJ does have a bimetal jacket (i.e. a jacket that is primarily made of steel), which is why it’s certain to attract a magnet. Do you only go to ranges that have banned magnetic ammo? Then you’d better have a good spot in the woods to fire Red Army Standard.
This ammo’s steel cases are the main reason why it’s lower priced. Steel is a heckuva lot less expensive to manufacture than brass! And when its lacquered, it receives better protection against corrosion and cycles more freely through a semi-automatic. This ammo’s Berdan primers aren’t just corrosion-free. They are also sealed for added safeguarding against water!
