When you think self-defense ammunition, you think of the hollow point bullet. That design has a couple inherent flaws, though. A profile that may cause jamming; A hole that can clog with fabric to inhibit expansion. This 9mm cartridge by Black Hills has a 125 grain HoneyBadger bullet that addresses both of those issues – and still does a lot of damage.

With its three pointed edges, the HoneyBadger looks like a special screw bit you could use to remove the partitions in public restrooms. When a HoneyBadger enters soft tissue, it whirls around to displace a wide area of tissue. It transfers a horrendous amount of energy to make a big wound channel, all without expanding.

This 9mm round is assembled by South Dakotans. We like South Dakotans, and we’re glad they get to use premium brass, primers, and propellant to make high quality self-defense ammunition.
Black Hills was founded by Jeff Hoffman, a former cop. He took up the habit of inspecting the rounds he carried on duty, and eventually took a second job loading ammunition. From there he has built up one of the most sought after brands in the ammo world, with clients including the military and firearm manufacturers.

A: Hello again Robert! I just heard back from my guy. He says this round's G1 BC is 0.215. I used that to cook up a ballistic chart for you – please feel free to play around with its numbers (I used a 0.165" sight height): https://shooterscalculator.com/ballistic-trajectory-chart.php?pl=%5BPreset+Name%5D&presets=&df=G1&bc=0.215&bw=125&vi=1050&zr=25&sh=0.165&sa=0&ws=0&wa=0&cr=100&ss=25&chartColumns=Range%7Eyd%60Energy%7Eft.lbf%60Vel%5Bx%2By%5D%7Eft%2Fs%60Elevation%7Ein&lbl=&submitst=+Create+Graph+
