Details
Underwood is making some of the most powerful self-defense ammo on the market. This 9mm +P+ ammo is loaded to higher pressure than what is standard for the cartridge. If your 9mm handgun is rated for +P+, then it can now hit a target with about as much force as a light 357 Magnum load!
This cartridge’s 90 grain bullet is designed to transfer all of that energy to the target as efficiently as possible. The Xtreme Defender is a CNC machined solid copper bullet shaped just like a Phillips head drill bit. The tough copper bullet uses the sharp edges on its nose to tear through barriers. The Xtreme Defender does not have a hollow point nose cavity, so it cannot clog up with fabric and lose the ability to expand like a JHP is prone to.
The Xtreme Defender doesn’t need to expand at all in order to create a gaping wound cavity within soft tissue. The flutes between the bullet’s ridges actually force soft tissues inward before expelling them outward at high velocities. That spells massive internal trauma, especially in light of the Xtreme Defender consistent 18” penetration depth.
Underwood always puts a couple extra high-quality components in their self-defense ammo. Their nickel-plated brass cases look nice, resist corrosion and reduce friction during feeding. Their low flash propellant produces less light, which can help prevent muzzle flash from undoing your eyes’ natural night vision.
