No two ways about it: the 10mm Auto is an extremely powerful cartridge. But that alone isn’t enough to guarantee extremely effective terminal performance. If you’re looking for a load you can trust to carry the day, Hornady Custom does it.

This cartridge’s bullet is the XTP: eXtreme Terminal Performance. It looks like any other jacketed hollow point at first glance, but it’s got a whole lot going on under its hood. If you cut the XTP in half longitudinally, you would see that its jacket starts out thick at the base and gets thinner the closer it draws to the tip. In addition to being tapered, the jacket features a tip that is strategically weakened by precision-cut serrations. It’s all in service of delivering broader, more reliable expansion at any practical velocity.

The XTP is designed to function reliably whether it’s inside a pistol or inside a target. The bullet’s rim is fully shielded by its jacket. That protects the bullet from deforming when it hits the feed ramp. It also protects it during penetration of a barrier that could come between you and the threat.

Custom is one of Hornady’s top-shelf labels. It is loaded with the same care a seasoned handloader would employ, and has the expertly matched primers and powder to show for it. Hornady only loads this ammo with the best brass cases they can truck into their state-of-the-art factory in Grand Island, Nebraska.
