Remember back in the ‘90s when every other thing was advertised as “extreme?” We had extreme potato chips. Extreme brake pads. We even had extreme kitty litter – for extreme cats, no doubt. Well, Winchester’s Extreme Point bullet really is deserving of its name. It dominates medium game with the power of its extremely large polymer tip!
This 243 Win Deer Season XP round is loaded with a 95 grain Extreme Point. Its black polymer tip takes up almost half of the bullet’s frontal surface area. Such a smooth meplat helps the bullet conserve more velocity and momentum. At 0.369, its G1 ballistic coefficient translates to a trajectory that rises just 1.5” before striking a target standing 200 yards away. The Extreme Point polymer tip’s oversized impact diameter enables the bullet to start widening out the instant it meets its target, and its tough copper jacket and dense lead-alloy core both promote effectively deep penetration.
These American-made deer-topplers are replete with Winchester’s own pristine brass cases. It’d be an extreme shame if you didn’t reload them – or, barring that, give them to a grateful handloader.
