Details
We offer a lot of accessibly priced range ammo like PMC Bronze and Silver Bear, but for self-defense with a handgun there are few rounds we’d rather have in our chamber more than Speer’s Gold Dot.
This 40 S&W round’s 180 grain bullet is optimized to neutralize a target throughout every part of its construction. Its strong, alloyed lead core is permanently bonded to its jacket thanks to Speer’s own Uni-Cor process, which ensures the bullet won’t fragment during either barrier penetration or on its way through its target. The Gold Dot bullet’s electrochemically bonded jacket is also perfectly concentric for superior balance in flight.
The Gold Dot leaves the muzzle at 1,025 fps to punch into a target with several hundred ft lbs of energy. At it meets with resistance from soft tissue, the Gold Dot’s precision formed nose cavity facilitates expansion to an exact width and at an exact rate. Such reliable terminal performance is welcome during a situation where everything else is up in the air.
This round’s clean burning propellant is ignited by CCI’s non-corrosive Boxer primer, and both are held in a sterling nickel plated brass casing. Nickel not only staves off deleterious corrosion, but further aids in smooth feeding and extraction in a semi-auto. Order the case, give these rounds a few practice shots, and then be as ready as you can to protect yourself and your own!
