Details
Winchester’s W Train & Defend is a very clever line of ammunition. This 40 S&W cartridge, which is optimized for self-defense, boasts nearly identical ballistics and recoil to its counterpart training round. That means if you practice with the more cost-effective training round, you’ll know exactly what to expect from your self-defense loads should you ever have to draw your weapon in self-defense.
This round’s 180 grain jacketed hollow point projectile is strong enough to penetrate most types of barriers with ease. As it digs into a soft target, hydrostatic pressure will force its nose cavity to open up, transferring great energy and producing a wide wound channel as it does so.
Winchester designed this round and its corresponding training round to both generate less recoil upon ignition, making an accurate mag dump all the more easy to pull off. The old American institution also gave it a nickel plated brass casing, which measurably reduces metal-on-metal friction to facilitate feeding and ejection in a semi-automatic firearm.
