Details

This 45 ACP self-defense cartridge by Hornady isn’t outfitted with just any old run of the mill vanilla plain Jane 185 grain jacketed hollow point. That right there is an eXtreme Terminal Performance – the XTP – a jacketed hollow point that is engineered from tip to toe to exhibit outstanding accuracy and genuinely detrimental terminal ballistics.

Hornady has mastered the art of drawing concentric jackets, and the XTP showcases all of the old Nebraskan company’s talents. Its jacket complements its uniformly distributed swaged lead core to grant the XTP peak rotational stability, which is why so many people prefer the bullet for match shooting!

The XTP’s jacket also encompasses its nose cavity’s edge. That promotes smooth feeding before it helps the bullet pierce heavy clothing and other barriers without becoming too damaged to perform its final trick. As the XTP’s nose cavity sets to work delivering terminal expansion, its surrounding notched and tapered jacket promotes both fast and uniform results. That’s how the XTP consistently expands to 1.5 times its original diameter!

This round’s lighter bullet supercharges its muzzle velocity to 970 fps (5” test barrel), and its reloadable brass cases cycle like silk. Order the entire case and train with the same rounds you’d fire for personal protection!
