A lot of people see magnetic ammunition like this 5.56x45 by Ammo Inc. and assume it’s low-grade AR fodder. But this SS109 cartridge’s ability to attract a magnet actually indicates something special about it: its penetrator tip.

Although it hasn’t got a green-painted tip like an M855 projectile, this round’s 62 grain FMJ also contains a solid steel spike in the front section of its core beneath its jacket.
