Details
In skilled hands, a simple hook and worm will beat the heck out of any sophisticated lure. Likewise, the tried and true soft point bullet is perfectly capable of bagging a huge buck once the right hunter has fired it. If your buck is still out there in the woods somewhere and you’re going to snag him with your 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, here’s just the Czech-made ammo for the job!
This cartridge’s 131 grain soft point doesn’t offer the flattest trajectory the 6.5 CM is able to dish out. But it is certainly accurate enough, with a trajectory that only rises by about 3.5” before hitting a 200-yard target. The SP bullet also retains 1,000 ft lbs of energy at 420 yards, which makes it plenty effective at anchoring distant deer.
This round’s SP bullet is almost completely surrounded by CuZn 10 brass. That jacket is hard, and it prevents the bullet from breaking apart before it can penetrate deeply enough to deliver a clean kill. The jacket also controls the rate and width of terminal expansion as the lead tip flattens down and widens out.
Sellier & Bellot’s nonmagnetic SP is seated in a new production brass case, with clean-burning powder and a non-corrosive Boxer primer behind it to ensure a predictable ~2,740 fos muzzle velocity out of a 21-3/4” test barrel.
