Where’s all the 8mm Mauser hunting ammo? We assume there’s plenty of it in Europe, but we’ve also got a great option for you right here in the only country that matters. This 8x57mm JS ammunition by Prvi Partizan proves Americans do use metric where it matters most!
Its not on overly sophisticated bullet, but the soft point certainly does take care of business. Deep penetration courtesy of its copper jacket (which doesn’t contain steel). Wide expansion courtesy of its lead core, which is revealed by an absence of jacket at the tip. The 196 grain projectile’s 2,182 fps muzzle velocity was taken with a 24” test barrel. By our measure, that makes this round capable of at least 1,000 ft lbs striking energy at any point within 330 yards.
As much as we would like to sell German war surplus from 1907, this ammo isn’t it. Prvi Partizan of Serbia manufactured these rounds recently, hence their totally noncorrosive Boxer primers and unblemished reloadable brass cases.
