This is 9mm +P+ ammunition. It’s loaded by a reputable manufacturer – but technically speaking, it is not loaded to SAAMI specifications. Do not fire this ammo in a pistol or carbine that isn’t rated for +P+. Consult your firearm’s manual or manufacturer if you’re unsure. Or ask us, your friendly ammo geeks!
Underwood didn’t load this self-defense round with any old jacketed hollow point. It features the Xtreme Defender – a solid copper (i.e. lead-free) bullet that has the durability and power it needs to bore through tough barriers like sheet metal and auto glass and still have enough energy to excavate a deep, cavernous permanent wound cavity.
How does the Xtreme Defender work? Thanks to the radial flutes that were CNC machined into its nose, it actively picks up, pressurizes and blasts out any soft tissues that cross its path. The result is a wound channel up to twice as wide as a traditional JHP could have inflicted.
Underwood does the Xtreme Defender justice by loading it with exemplary components. The Illinois company’s precision-drawn nickel-plated brass cases are resistant to tarnishing and corrosion, and also minimize friction so as to help a semi-auto function reliably. Their propellant emits very little light during ignition, which will help prevent bright muzzle flash from deacclimiating your eyesight to dim lighting.
