Small shell. Big power – relatively speaking, of course! Aguila of Mexico offers their Minishell 12 Gauge ammunition to anyone who would like the advantages of hunting or defending with 1-3/4” long shells!
It may be small, but this round still holds a respectable 5/8 ounces of buckshot: seven pieces of #4 buck, and four pieces of #1 buck. The hard lead balls punch 0.24” and 0.30” diameter holes into their target, respectively, and their 1,200 fps muzzle velocity ensures that they reach a close-range target with still ample stopping power.
This ammo effectively increases a pump-action’s magazine capacity. You can stick ten 1-3/4” rounds into a tube which seats six 2-3/4” rounds. (Many pump-action shotguns cannot fire Minishells before they receive a special adapter.) And although its chamber pressure is too low to operate a semi-automatic, this ammo will treat you to impressively low recoil. It’s a great way to show younger shooters the ropes!
