This shotgun shell features a unique paper wad. The over-powder wad does a fine job of sealing off the propellant gas during ignition, which ensures the 1-1/8 ounce shot column achieves a steady muzzle velocity of 1,200 fps. The wad patterns well, too. The shell’s cellulose filler cushions the shot column before it settles on the ground where it will get harmlessly gobbled up by microorganisms.
This shell does contain plastic, of course. Its 2-3/4” hull is reloadable because of it. The shell’s #7.5 shot is made of lead, which is alloyed with 4% antimony to give it the rigidity it needs to survive ignition without becoming too flat to pattern efficiently.
