Tools. Vehicles. Tools for repairing vehicles. Steel is useful for many things! But in our book, the best use for steel is making shot pellets. The steel shot is not toxic, so you can take special satisfaction from knowing that you’re preserving the environment while you hunt upland game. And if a game warden catches you firing steel shot on land where lead is prohibited, they’ll give you a huge thumbs up (and possibly even give you a hard candy if they’re truly feeling generous).
This Upland Steel label 12 Gauge shotshell by Federal Premium is loaded with an ounce of #7.5 steel shot. Steel pellets are substantially harder than lead ones, so they will completely avoid deformation before proceeding to deliver a narrow pattern. Steel pellets aren’t as dense as lead ones, however, which this shell’s sprightly 1,330 fps muzzle velocity capably compensates for. It ensures that the shot reaches small game with sufficient energy to put it down quickly.
Federal took things one step further by loading this ammo with paper wads. They’re substantial enough to serve their only purpose splendidly, and soil microbes will have a good time reducing them to carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. This ammo’s hulls aren’t biodegradable, but they are an even better type of -able: reloadable.
