Details
The soft point cutting edge bullet does a lot more to its target than cut it!
This 30-06 Springfield cartridge’s 180 grain SPCE features a unique profile, with an angular shoulder that juts out at its midsection. That is the cutting edge, which lives up to its name when it punches a wide, round and injurious hole into the quarry on contact. The protrusion also helps bind the core and jacket together to secure less fragmentation and deeper resultant penetration. And because the SPCE is a soft point, it inflicts even greater trauma by expanding and tumbling around as it tunnels through the beast.
This round’s bullet is seated in a reloadable virgin brass case, with enough powder behind it to give it a 2,641 fps muzzle velocity out of a 23.5” barrel. Centered up 1.5”, the 0.353 G1/0.176 G7 BC bullet rises about 2.4” above the bore line before careening into a 200-yard zero. Striking energy at that range is 1,867 ft lbs, which ought to give any elk a run for its money.
