An ammo can full of 5.56x45 M855 isn’t just great for target shooting with an AR-15. Swing this 16-pound unit around in circles for a deep shoulder muscle workout, or drop it onto a threat’s head from the top of your staircase to subdue them without having to even touch your rifle.
The M855 bullet isn’t like a typical FMJ. In addition to its lead core and gilding metal jacket, it features a seven-grain steel tip. This is why the M855 is also known as the “penetrator” – under ideal conditions it is able to penetrate 1/8” thick sheet metal at 666 yards, not to mention any light armor a threat might be wearing.
Two caveats: the M855 round’s heavier 62 grain bullet is most accurate in conjunction with a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel, and the steel it contains makes it magnetic.
Winchester loads this ammo with new production brass cases and Boxer primers, and also assembles the rounds on convenient stripper clips. (There is a spoon in the ammo can.) The can itself is new production and military-grade, complete with a rubber gasket you can rely on to seal damaging moisture out!
