Sometimes you don’t want to cook eggs, do the laundry, or write a 500-word essay on what freedom means to you. Sometimes you just want to go hunting. With a rifled bore 12 Gauge shotgun. In an area that prohibits lead projectiles! And if now happens to be one of those times, then we’ve got real choice ammo for you in our warehouse. It’s Federal Freight Train Copper!
This mighty three-incher packs a 300 grain (11/16 oz) lead-free solid copper projectile. It’s a sabot slug: i.e. the kind of slug that’s only meant to be fired through a rifled bore. The Freight Train Copper slug’s aerodynamic nose profile and polymer tip let it meet very little air resistance while it’s airborne. If your sights are 1.5” high and the 0.187 G1 BC slug hits its advertised 2,000 fps muzzle velocity, then you’re looking at a trajectory that peaks 0.73” en route to a 100-yard zero.
And that’s not all! The Freight Train Copper slug additionally features an externally skived nose cavity: the reason why it reliably extends six flat petals upon sinking into soft tissue. Factor in the copper slug’s propensity for deep penetration, and you’ve got a real deer/boar/black bear toppler on your hands.
