Details
You’re a reasonable person, and you reasonably expect other reasonable people not to try and attack you. But when you have an unreasonable person to contend with, this 40 S&W cartridge by Speer will give them one extremely good reason why they shouldn’t have.
This Gold Dot G2 round’s bullet begins as a resilient alloyed lead core. That core is then electrochemically bonded to its copper jacket, creating a bullet that is not only extremely balanced for accurate flight but also virtually incapable of core/jacket separation. If you fired this bullet through a sheet of steel, it would retain over 99 percent of its mass – ensuring it also retains the momentum it needs to penetrate deeply into its target.
The nose cavity of this bullet is unusually shallow, and furthermore filled with supple elastomer. As the G2 bullet meets with resistance from soft tissue, the elastomer forces its way down into the core’s integral fissures. The bullet opens up quickly, reliably expanding in a highly uniform fashion. The G2 bullet passes the FBI test protocol with soaring colors, and it will pass any test you’ve got in store for it, too!
Speer is smart to set so formidable a self-defense projectile in a nickel plated casing. Nickel not only creates less of the friction that can cause a semi-auto to jam, but additionally resists gradual corrosion while it’s sitting in the magazine. CCI’s best Boxer primer delivers clockwork ignition, and clean burning propellant keeps the bore better able to stabilize accurate bullets.
Speer gives this round a muzzle velocity of 910 fps for a muzzle energy of 331 ft lbs.
