Hold on a second. Is this 7.62x39 ammo from Russia? No! It is not! The “NFR” stands for not from Russia, even though it is loaded with the affordable steel cases that make Russian-made ammo so popular among budget-conscious AK-47 lovers!
Don’t even think about attempting to handload this ammo’s cases. It’s technically possible, but so are many other things that you’d really rather not do. Each case is polymer coated for added resistance to corrosion, and loaded with a Berdan primer that is perfectly noncorrosive.
Most steel-cased ammo is loaded with bimetal-jacketed projectiles. This particular ammo ain’t, so it’s A-OK for firing at ranges which prohibit magnetic ammunition. The 123 grain full metal jacket was manufactured in America, although the round’s steel case does originate from Eastern Europe. Even so, this is undoubtedly the most American steel-cased 7.62x39 ammo you’re going to find on the internet!
