Can you still fire subsonic 9mm ammo if you don’t have a suppressor? Absolutely. Sellier & Bellot’s subsonic ammo still generates enough pressure to reliably cycle a semi-automatic handgun, and even with a suppressor it’s so powerful that you’ll still want to wear hearing protection.
But this ammo will indeed shine best if you do run it through a suppressed firearm. Its bullet is unusually heavy at 150 grains, and thus keeps its muzzle velocity at a subsonic 1,001 fps out of a 6” barrel. (Slower out of a shorter barrel.)
This round’s bullet is a full metal jacket: solid lead on the inside, with an alloy made of 70 copper and 30 percent zinc on the outside. It’s going to keep your handgun’s rifling and suppressor’s baffles more free of accuracy-harming residue, but it won’t deliver the terminal expansion that is optimal for personal protection. Still going to leave a mark, of course.
Sellier & Bellot ammo offers all the trademarks of a modern manufacturer: new production brass cases, non-corrosive Boxer primers, and clean burning propellant.
Are you a new Glock owner? 9mm ammo is the same thing as 9x19mm!
