Prairie dog. We’re not talking about a German shepherd living in Joder, Nebraska. We’re talking about a varmint that steals crops, kills gardens and probably does even worse things down in its hole where no one can see. Don’t let the prairie dog keep getting away with it. Instead, introduce it to your new best friend: Remington Magnum Rimfire 22 WMR ammunition.
This 22 WMR ammo (which will most assuredly not work in a 22 LR firearm) is loaded with pointed soft point bullets. The PSP has a round nose profile that encounters relatively little frontal air resistance in flight. Once the 40 grain .22 cal PSP hits its advertised muzzle velocity of 1,900 fps (which Remington recorded with a rifle barrel of unreported length), it’ll retain about 70% of its velocity at 100 yards and then drop to -5.9” another 50 yards downrange.
The PSP’s accuracy doesn’t do all the work. Its lead core and attenuated copper jacket peel back during penetration, delivering the wide wound channel and outward energy transfer that kill any small game deader than a Texas salad bar on the 4th of July.
