Details

The 308 Win is no chickenheart. If you fire that big cartridge at an immediate threat to your physical safety, odds are you’ve solved your problem. But when your life is at stake, wouldn’t you really rather count on a law enforcement grade cartridge? If so, then Speer Gold Dot is worth the investment.

This round’s 150 grain projectile is no ordinary soft point. The bullet’s pressure-formed lead core was immersed in an electrochemical bath that bonded it to its copper jacket one single atom at a time. The result is a bullet that has essentially perfect jacket concentricity, which complements its ballistic profile to ensure great accuracy. Not only will this bullet fly flat and true – if fired from a 24” barrel, it will conserve more than enough kinetic energy to ethically harvest a whitetail past 500 yards.

Accuracy isn’t even the bonded bullet’s greatest advantage. Because they are fused so tightly together, the Gold Dot soft point’s core and jacket are extremely hard for a barrier to pry apart. That is how the bullet retains the momentum it needs to penetrate deeply into soft tissue while simultaneously undergoing more than double-diameter terminal expansion.

This ammo is loaded to exceptionally tight tolerances to ensure reliable functionality in all makes and models of rifles. Speer loads their duty ammo with low-flash propellant that won’t blind you with muzzle flash if you are ever forced to open fire in a dark room, and their nickel-plated brass cases generate significantly less of the friction that could complicate feeding and extraction in a semi-automatic.
