There are two ways to become a champion. The first is to dedicate every waking moment of your life toward accomplishing one single goal. That’s too much work. The second is to order a case of Federal Premium’s Champion series 5.56x45 varmint and predator hunting ammunition. That’s easy – and better yet, you’ll get to go varmint and/or predator hunting!
This cartridge’s bullet is a perfectly average weight at 55 grains. Its trajectory will drop off a little more quickly because its muzzle velocity is 3,100 fps instead of the usual ~3,240 fps, but you’ll notice slightly gentler recoil and reduced muzzle flip in exchange for the faster bullet drop. The bullet is a jacketed soft point, which doesn’t need a ballistically inefficient nose cavity or expensive polymer tip in order to provide deadly terminal expansion. The JSP excels at anchoring thin-skinned game because it expands so quickly following impact, creating a wide wound channel that will pulverize any nearby internal organs.
Federal loads these AR-compatible 5.56 rounds at their factory in Anoka, MN. They’ve been in business for over a hundred years now, and they’ve got the high-quality primers, powder and reloadable brass to show for it.
