Would you like to stock up on the most elemental 7.62x51 ammunition you could use for target shooting and training exercises? We have Winchester’s M80 spec ammo by the case, and it is just as useful for range time with any 308 hunting rifle.
This round seats a 149 grain full metal jacket projectile. You save money when you fire a bullet that isn’t designed to mushroom as it plunges into muscle tissue. This is a bullet which is designed to chamber without jamming, avert excessive barrel fouling, and hold a flat trajectory throughout the 7.62x51’s entire effective range. A cannelure around the bullet’s shank helps to avoid the setback that could have occurred during recoil. Please be advised that this is a magnetic bullet with steel in its jacket.
These 500 American-made rounds are new production, Boxer-primed and non-corrosive. Their military-grade brass cases are still discolored from the annealing they underwent at the factory. This shows that the brass has been heated up so it can expand during ignition and more reliably return to its original dimensions afterward – not that it has been reloaded.

Q: What is the Winchester item # for this ammo? Does it have the NATO cross on the base?
Posted On: 4/2/2024 By: dadster3
A: Thanks for reaching out! This item's product number is WM80. It's Lake City brass, and it does have the NATO cross on the headstamp.
Q: Why are these 149 grain projectiles when 147 or 150 is the norm? Did these not meet some specification?
Posted On: 11/16/2021 By: Kent
A: Thanks for reaching out Kent! This ammo is loaded to SAAMI specs, and Winchester did intentionally load it with 149 grain bullets. Althogh relatively less common than 147 and 150 grain bullets, the 149 grain bullet delivers comparable ballistics to service ammo and serves well for target shooting and plinking (as opposed to long-distance shooting).
