You don’t like your Mosin-Nagant. You love that little Slavic workhorse, and you would never let it go a day without 7.62x54r ammunition. If you’re looking for a real steal on ammo, check out this real steel-cased 7.62x54r MAXXTech Essential Steel ammo from Russia!
This cartridge is loaded with a 148 grain lead core full metal jacket projectile. The only remarkable thing about the FMJ is its bi-metal jacket. It’s almost totally composed of steel – it’s just covered in a thin layer of copper wash for nicer cosmetics – and it will absolutely attract a magnet. Don’t take this ammo to a range that forbids magnetic ammo, or else the staff will stop your range day before it even starts!
This ammo’s cases are its more obvious steel feature. Steel cases let you avoid paying for costlier brass cases, so you’ll have more money for other things such as other kinds of ammunition. Steel cases are rigid compared to brass ones. They’ll dirty up your rifle’s action a little quicker, and they are virtually impossible to reload. You’re better off just leaving them on the ground. MAXXTech ammo’s Berdan primers are noncorrosive, though, so you can scratch rust off your list of things to worry about. (We hope male pattern baldness isn’t already on there.)
