Looking for a whole case of 9mm self-defense ammunition so you can train the same way you would fight? We want to hook you up! Federal’s Personal Defense Hydra-Shok series ammo sports a friendlier price tag than higher-tech alternatives, but it is without question effective at your handgun’s most important job!
This cartirdge’s Hydra-Shok bullet features a solid lead core and scored jacket. The little notches stamped around the jacket’s rim enable the JHP to undergo fuller, wider expansion even at lower velocities. The JHP’s nose cavity also contains a unique center post, which similarly promotes more dependable terminal ballistics across a wide range of velocities.
This round’s 147 grain JHP may not have as flat a trajectory as a lighter bullet, but its superior momentum is a great advantage when deeper terminal penetration is desired. That bullet is seated in a factory fresh nickel-plated brass case. The smooth nickel coating lowers the risk of a failure to feed and extract, and it is also more resistant to corrosion than bare brass alone.
