Details
When the U.S. Army announced their XM17 Modular Handgun System competition to select a new service pistol, they turned to Winchester to create the ammunition for it. Winchester turned back with this 9mm cartridge – designated “M1152,” because Army things always get neat code names. Now it’s finally available to the public!
We reason that the military knows a few things about firearm training. Training with the same ammo they use must be wise indeed, so here it is! This 9mm cartridge features a 115 grain FMJ projectile, with a flat nose profile that promotes reliable feeding and great accuracy. This cartridge’s pressure is a little higher than your typical 9mm load, giving it a 1,320 fps muzzle velocity. That’s going to give you a measurably flatter trajectory, but do ensure your pistol is in good condition to handle the boosted pressure.
The military wouldn’t tolerate subpar ammo. That’s why Winchester gave this round a military-grade primer, designed so you could submerge it in water for a whole day without impacting its performance. Reloadable brass is a must for such a round, so keep whatever your firearm ejects while running this ammo!

Q: Because of the flat nose
This type of bullet should have more devastating effects on impact
Than the regular round nose bullet is that correct or incorrect
Because I WELL know that I have used flat nose bullets when hunting
And it always had much more stopping power
Than just regular round nose bullets
Plus I like that this cartridge
Because it has a hotter load
then traditional 9 mm in 115 grain
Is this cartridge could be used as a carry load
Are is it not suggested
Because the reason I am asking
Because of his flat nose versus the round nose bullet
plus it's a much hotter round
I just purchased 500 rounds
But because I have been sick
I haven't had a chance to go out and shot this AMMO yet
And if it is good as I believe it to be
Well from what specifications are from what I have read
Because especially of the flat nose bullet
and the much hotter load than most 115 grain 9mm cartridge
I ABSOLUTELY will be purchasing another 500 rounds if not a thousand round
Especially because of the great price

A: Thanks for reaching out Denver! When it comes to FMJ bullets, a flat nose does indeed inflict a greater energy than a round nose. A flat nose gouges a more harmful wound into soft tissue! Now, in all honesty, you could do a lot better than FMJ ammo for personal protection. A JHP, which expands inside soft tissue, is much better. The Hague Convention bars the use of JHP bullets during international warfare, so our military uses FMJ ammo in their sidearms, which is why amm like this has flat nose bullets: it deals more damage to the threat without actually expanding inside of it. But you can use JHP ammo for self-defense, so I do believe you could do better than this ammo for your everyday carry.
Q: Is this Winchester active duty ammunition considered/ rated +P

A: Thanks for reaching out! While it's not labelled as overpressure, this cartridge does in fact create about 13 percent greater pressure in the chamber than a standard 9mm load. As such we believe you had better treat it as a +P.
