What in tarnation? Is this 9mm +P ammunition loaded with drill bits instead of bullets? Not at all! Black Hills Ammunition of South Dakota loaded this ammo with 100 grain HoneyBadgers: solid copper bullets that lack nose cavities, but which still inflict massive wound channels accompanied by a significantly reduced risk of over-penetration.
The HoneyBadger’s radial flutes force hydraulic energy inward, restrict it, and finally accelerate it outward to wreak devastation on surrounding soft tissues. The resultant cavitation is on par with that of any premium JHP. Because the HoneyBadger lacks a nose cavity, it cannot lose its efficacy for self-defense by getting gummed up with fabric or drywall. And because it doesn’t have a core and jacket that can detach from one another, the monolithic bullet also consistently penetrates to a depth of 18”.
If you’re looking for PCC hunting ammo that satisfies certain jurisdictions’ lead-free bullet requirements, then you are looking right at it. Just take care that this is overpressure ammo. It delivers a flatter trajectory and has higher striking energy, but it also has more recoil, accelerates wear and tear on a firearm, and isn’t recommended for older handguns.
