SUBSONIC. 300 AAC BLACKOUT. TARGET AMMO. These are the six most beautiful words in the English language, and we don’t know if “300” even counts as a word. We’ll look into the matter while you order your Winchester Super-X 300 BLK open tip ammo!
True fact – the open tip is not intended as a hunting/defense bullet. It’ll butter any varmint’s biscuit, but it just hasn’t got the terminal ballistics you’d want for smoking Bambi’s mom. The bullet has got a jacketed base, however, which greatly reduces lead fouling of the barrel/suppressor, and its injection-molded lead core gives it excellent balance as well.
The greatest perk of this round’s bullet is its weight. At 200 grains, it’s just too chunky to break the sound barrier. That’ll make any rifle, carbine or SBR perform a whole lot quieter. And if you’re firing through a suppressor, then forget about it. Your reports will sound like hushed whispers rolling across freshly fallen snow. That’s an exaggeration, of course. You’ll still need ear protection.
