Heads up! This isn’t technically M855 ammunition. PMC designates its 62 grain full metal jacket as a light armor piercing (LAP) projectile. With that said, the LAP has the same 7 grain steel core insert as an M855. Its nose is even painted green, which means you can treat it just like the M855 you’re already accustomed to.
The M855 projectile is designed to penetrate sheet metal – hence its utility for engaging lightly armored threats in combat. We’re offering this 5.56x45 ammo to folks who like to shoot targets with the slightly heavier bullet, which conserves relatively more momentum so as to reduce the effects of wind drift. This ammo will attract a magnet. It will also put dents in steel targets, so don’t use it to shoot any AR500 plates that you want to leave behind for your grandchildren.
This reloadable and noncorrosive ammo is packaged in a new M2A1 ammo can. It’s not military surplus, but the South Korean military (which PMC manufactures ammo for) surely would have appreciated how the ammo is already loaded on stripper clips and tucked inside bandoliers. Spoon included!
