Details
Rio Ammunition, started all the way back in 1896 and as of June 2015 opened up a plant just down south in the town of Marshall, Texas after selling to the US market since 2002. They are dedicated to providing their ammunition products to the United States market, and are most known in Spain and Europe. They have plants in Spain, UK, and the USA and produce nearly 500 million shells a year!
This 20 gauge number #1 buck shot by Rio contains 9 lead pellets. It is a 2 ¾ inch shell with those 9 pellets traveling at 1,345 feet per second. These would be ideal for hunting or even self defense especially for someone not wanting to shoot a 12 gauge. Also #1 buck shot often provides great penetration, but tends not to penetrate too far causing unwanted damage. Note that this box of shells may advertise its buck as "three-by-three," but that is in fact still #1 buck when it's loaded in a 20 Gauge shell.
As a general rule of thumb, shotgun pellets spread about 1 inch per yard (3 feet) after leaving the muzzle. It is also a great idea to take any given load you have and shoot it at different distances with your chosen shotgun to test and see how the load will perform at different distances. This will give you a great idea of how your shotgun and chosen round will perform when it is time to take the shot. If you want to be sure to have extra ammo to try this with and practice with, don't forget to check out the 250 round quantity of this ammo for a better price per round.
