We would normally take this opportunity to tell you about how well this 22 Short cartridge’s bullet performs, but naturally that’s not going to be the case seeing as it’s a blank. This round offers a whopping zero fps muzzle velocity.
That said, this cartridge is perfect for hunting dog training, as its report will habituate pups to the kind of loud noises they’ll be subject to in the field. It’s also great for event starter guns, and it will leave the visible smoke signature that the audience expects and enjoys. Its non-corrosive rimfire primer and factory fresh brass casing give this cartridge a wonderful shelf life, so it’s content to sit in between track and field events.
This cartridge can actually be used for self-defense. Fire it in the air, and your assailant may be fooled into thinking they’re participating in a foot race and immediately start running away.

Q: will these blanks smoke and create noise associated with live ammo? is there any shrapnel ?

A: These are black powder blanks so there will be a noticeable smoke discharge. There is no projectile, save the fiber plug.
There will not be any shrapnel to speak of but the firearm still must be pointed in a safe direction.
