Details
These 223 Rem cartridges are manufactured by the Barnaul Cartridge Plant JSC in Russia and branded under Colt’s name. Their steel casings feature zinc plating, which helps to promote smooth feeding and extraction. That along with the 62 grain projectile’s full metal jacket means the cartridge will attract a magnet. As these rounds sport Berdan primers, they promise long shelf life and reliable ignition.
These cartridges are not suitable for reloading, but given their affordable price they make a great choice for recreationally shooting your semi-automatic firearms, including AR-15s. Their factory of origin may be of particular interest to history buffs, as Barnaul Cartridge Plant’s history extends back to the reign of Alexander I of Russia when the Emperor ordered his country’s first cartridge plants opened in St. Petersburg in 1869. Barnabul was one of them, although it was relocated during the Second World War.
