Q: I see where you did not recommend this ammo for a 1/12 twist.
How about a 16" barrel with a 1/9 twist?
Posted On: 3/3/2013 By: KevinD0162
A: For this 69 grain bullet, I would consider either a 1/9 or 1/7 twist rate, including your 16" barrel. The 1/9 barrel will accurately handle all popular bullet grains on the market. If you are considering anything 70 grain or higher, a 1/7 twist rate should be used.
Since a majority of the .223 and 5.56 ammo made is either 55 or 62 grain, a 1/9 barrel is ideal.
Q: I have an AR upper that is a heavy barreled but is 1:12 twist. Would this round be a good performer for that upper?
Posted On: 10/21/2011 By: Jason
A: No, this round is too long for use in a 1/12 twist upper. You might consider Hornady 52gr BTHP ammo.
